Refugees

Transparent Statement:
No one ever wants to be a refugee. We cannot turn our backs on them.

This is one area where I agree with Jay Inslee. We cannot just turn away refugees, such as those from Syria. I realize there are concerns about such refugees being terrorists in disguise, but refugees are vetted by the Federal government for 2 years before being permitted into the country.

It is easy to rail against refugees — they generally need public support, they take low-wage jobs away from our own citizens, we must pay to educate their children, etc.

But sometimes we have a moral responsibility to do the right thing. When millions of people flee civil war — and almost certain death — it is inhumane to ignore their plight.

Admitting a few thousand people will not solve the problem on its own. But we must do our part to help.
